Anne CINDRIC

Fascinated by the demonstrations of power and strength, Anne Cindric tries to represent them and to give to them body to show their appearances and weaknesses. Alumnus of the ENA (National School of Administration, the "school of power" in France), she puts a feminine and decorated look, where the decorative arts have a great part, on these universes of male domination.

She mixes various medias to represent a whole world, ambiguous, at the same time cruel and delicate, from tattooed torsos full of testosterone but stitched by red silk, fashionable African heads of state, heroes of fantasy, war people, knickknacks of the power, official productions, to the characters of video games or from the great history.

The work of Anne Cindric was presented by the Centre Pompidou, the Centre Pompidou-Metz, the Museum La Piscine in Roubaix, the Center of the National Monuments, the DRAC Limousin, the National Archives or the MUBA , Museum of fine Arts of Tourcoing. Jean-Yves Jouannais, former editor-in-chief of Art Press, and author of the Encyclopedia of Wars in the Centre Pompidou, dedicated her a monography. Julie Crenn, art critic, nominated at the prize 2015 of the International Association of the Art critics, also wrote on her work in her collection "A l'intérieur". She was chosen as artist to follow by the magazine Télérama and the Huffington Post.

Anne Paris is represented by Galerie Laure Roynette in Paris.

. . .

. 1965 .

Anne Cindric was born near Paris in 1965. Her childhood was coloured by the horrific and marvellous tales told by her great-grandmother from Auvergne.

. 1980 .

Fascinated by painting after her discovery of the primitive painters, she was 15 when her wish to prepare for entry to the Beaux-Arts prompted her to attend art classes at the City of Paris art school. Personal changes led her down a different, more conventional path.

. 1984 .

She entered the Paris Institute of Political Studies, but never abandoned painting.

. 1991 .
She then entered the National School of Administration, graduating two years later. This career brought her a depth of experience as a prefect and magistrate. The themes of power and force began to enter her artistic quest, but she decided that this conventional route was definitely no longer for her.

. 1994 .
With her “mission accomplished”, she could finally return to her passion, and joined Yanne Auguin’s drawing and composition studio.

. 1997 .

She met Boris, her future husband, an architect, who had fought in the war in former Yugoslavia and survived the siege of Sarajevo. Her working themes would also be be profoundly marked by this vital experience.

. 1998 .

She joined the painting section of the City of Paris Beaux-Arts studios, and began to develop her own personal direction and to display her work.
